Small portion of RV’s and Entertainment Tent at Rally
Papa Doo Run Run on last night of Rally

Aztec Ruins in Aztec New Mexico
Spent the night in Durango, Colorado and continued on to Grand Junction on Wednesday. The drive through The San Juan Mountains in SW Colorado is one of the most beautiful and hair-raising drives I have ever taken especially towing a 33ft Fifth wheel. See attached Pictures.

Going through passes at up to 11,000 ft.

Stream along side road
Lunch break and time to relax. We are out of the Mountains.

Spent two nights in our friends driveway. Had a great time visiting and telling old sea stories. We hadn’t seen Dick and BJ for about 17 years. On Thursday Dick took us for a drive through Colorado National Monument.
Jayne and BJ at overlook in Colorado National Monument
A look at one of the many Canyons in the Monument. Dick said the large flat top blue Mountain in the far back ground is the largest flat top mountain in the world.

Left the house on April 8th moved down the hill to Alamogordo Elks RV lot. Spent 8 days securing the house and getting ready for our first long term RV trip. We will be gone about 15 months taking in California, Alaska, Maine, Florida, Ohio, Texas, and points between.
Left Alamogordo on Thursday the 16th parked that night in Kirkland AFB RV Camp ground. Early the next morning moved to Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta Park for the tenth Good Sam Rally. See pictures. There are over 4000 RV’s parked here with four days of displays of everything for RV’s . Of course we found lots of goodies we couldn’t do with out.
So far we have had three nights of entertainment: 1st Neil Sedaka, then Rita Cooledge, and last night The Osmond’s, who were by far the best. Tonight is to be Papa Doo Nun Nun.
Left Balloon Park 8:30 AM Tuesday Driving North to Durango, Colorado. Stopped at Aztec, New Mexico to see Aztec National monument turned out had nothing to do with Aztecs of Mexico but very interesting. Will post pictures later.

3. Joined the USCG Jan. 1969. Moved to Mobile, Alabama and parked new Mobile home(3rd home) in Lumpkins trailer park. Bought New VW Campmobile and took a long vacation to Utah. Married in St. George Temple. USCG sent me to Greece to teach the HU16 to the locals. Jayne stayed in Dallas till after Hurricane Camille blew through. Dad drove back with her in case there was major problems. (1/69 to 1/70)
4. Moved Mobile Home to Browns Trailer park (1/70 to 1/71)
5. Bought 5 acres near Wilmer, Alabama (4th purchase) Raising chickens, sold eggs at work and grew a garden. Jayne shoots snake in the back yard and boys and Gordon tear down building in mobile and stack lumber. (1/71 to 1/72)
6. Moved to lot owned by church member next to base. Built storage building out of lumber collected in Wilmer, Ala. Bought first truck camper, sold and bought 1st camping trailer(1/72 to 5/73)
7. Transferred to USCG Air Station at Corpus Christi, Texas. During transfer took long vacation through Tucson, Arizona, picking up Snowden. Had 3 boys and Shasta in Plymouth station wagon pulling 16 ft. travel trailer. Then went to San Diego, California and Disney land. Afterwards went back to Oklahoma then to Corpus Christi where we bought a lot (5th purchase) to put Mobile home on. We all lived in 16ft. trailer for 2 or 3 weeks (6/ 73 to 6/74)
8. That same year we bought and moved to home on Aristocrat (6th purchase). Gordon started working at JC Penney’s repairing TV’s, riding a 10 speed bike 5 miles to work every day and then 10 miles down town to work at Penney’s . A fellow worker brought me home. Built first repair shop in garage. Took boys on first Deer hunt in west Texas. Shot and hit 5 Deer. (6/74 to 4/75)
9. Transferred to Elizabeth City, North Carolina where I taught ATA “A” School, trying to make Chief. Bought a home on Flora St. with old store in side yard (7th purchase). Turned old store into first major electronics repair store. Fenced and grew garden in back yard. Made Chief after two years then transferred in hanger to Chief in charge of C131 Modification for next two years. John meets and marries Birdie, Mark goes off to work in New Jersey. I retire. ( 4/75 to 10/78)
10. Moved to Durant, Oklahoma where we opened Wyatt Electronics, an all purpose sales and services store. Bought home on Mississippi St. (8th purchase). Dad helped us remodel store at 405 West Main. Did great for 5 years, remodeled again then bought store building (9th purchase)
11. Bought house on Meadowlark Lane (10th purchase). Mid 80’s recession hit big time and took everything. Went bankrupt and lost it all., Best thing that ever happened to us!!!!!!!!!! (10/78 to 7/85)
12. Found job as a tech writer at Scientific Communications Garland, Texas. In mid 1985 we moved to a rental house in Plano, Texas. Soon became the company Instructor. May of 1986 we bought first sail boat, the Leta J, a 23 ft Aquarius. She was on Cedar Creek lake the first week-end we found out how little we new about sailing but it was a start. Jayne became a SCUBA diver and I became a PADI instructor(7/85 to 7/86)
13. In 1986 we moved to a large house in Garland and, was thinking of trying to buy it. As instructor and course developer I went to Germany twice. The first time the Germans came back to the plant for lab training, we had large party at this house. In July of 1987 we bought Comfort Zone, a Pearson 303.
14. We did not buy the big house as sail boats were taking over our lives. Moved to Timber Ridge Apartments so we could become accustomed to living in smaller spaces like a sailboat. Was sent to Scotland where Jayne joined me after I was through teaching and we spent a week touring Scotland and England. ((7/87 to 1/88)
15. Moved to Marks house in Garland after he and Crystal split up to help him pay bills. Still sailboating every weekend (1/88 to 5/88).
16. Had job offer from Bench Mark too good to pass up. Moved to apts. on Frankfort. After six months found they were a bunch of yuppies and was miserable. (5/85 to 10/85)
17. Went back to Scientific Communications system division as a contract worker preparing training for the El Salvador project. Moved back to Timber Ridge Apts. After training was completed asked to be Senior field Engineer in charge of installing three systems in El Salvador (First time in my life I made over $50,000 a year). After El Salvador project went to Bahrain during Desert Shield to sell system to locals. Came back and helped design system then went back after Desert Storm, and installed system and trained locals and Filipinos how to maintain the system (Worst country I have ever been in.) I also had taken night job as instructor at Eastland College to pay off boat quicker. (10/88 to 2/91)
18. Moved aboard Comfort Zone on Lake Lewisville. Jayne did a fantastic job of getting boat ready to spend first night aboard while I was teaching night school. Only a true cruiser could have accomplished such a task. We had a storage building where we hung extra clothes. We both worked and lived on the sailboat. I prepared and went to Finland in November to give a training course. Prepared boat to move to Houston in September while mast was down. Installed mast steps before shipping boat to Clear lake in Houston. ( 2/91 to 9/91)
19. Became uninvited house guest of Mark and Christie’s for three months. Did first off shore cruise in Oct. from Clear Lake to Corpus Christi. On the trip down we averaged ½ knot above hull speed for 23 hours. (9/91 to 12/91)
20. Left Clear Lake and headed across Gulf of Mexico with Dwight and Diana Golden aboard as extra hands. They were not as good as we hoped. Broached going into Isla Mujeres, Mexico on tip of the Yucatan (All my fault from poor planning before I hove to). Met Dick and BJ Skidmore in dock. Dick helped me repair rudder after I removed it while still in water. Spent year cruising NW Caribbean seeing Cozumul, Belize, Bay Island of Honduras, and Guatemala. We returned north along the Yucatan with new friends, Will and Donna Adams on “Tigua” a 21ft west sail, Al and Mary C Jones on Captiva, and Jesse and Rene on Renesse. We all departed Isla Mujeres on the 1st of November 1991 and arrived in the Florida Keyes three days later. We spent the winter in Boot key harbor, where we obtained Sneaker, our first Parrot. We left in April of 1992 to go up the East coast to Maine. Along the way we spent time in Elizabeth City, North Carolina where we met Joe Green on “Offset” and Rick and Deanna Helms on “Themrock”. We spent a month in Washington DC where Jayne’s Mom, Darline, and my Aunt Lahoma came to visit. We tied to the dock and they stayed on board while we toured DC. We spent fourth of July aboard Rick and Deanna’s boat while watching the fireworks and listening to music on the radio. Continued up the coast to Rhode Island where we anchored off Joe Green’s dock and went upstate New York to visit our Grand kids (John and Birdie had divorced back in 1986). Continued on to Maine where we hid from a Hurricane in a beautiful little hole North of Portsmouth, Main. Started back down on Labor day week-end. Jayne and I both quit smoking in Plymouth, Mass. The trip after that was wonderful. We arrived back in Rhode Island in time for the Portsmouth Boat show, then on down the coast for the Annapolis boat show where I bought a whisker pole. Joe green started south after we did and caught up with us in Norfolk, Virginia. He had picked up another boat, ”Walkabout”. We all sailed together back to St. Augustine, Florida. We had a terrible night just before we pulled into St. Augustine. Then the day after we arrived, the weather turned very cold. After two days at the dock we headed south as fast as we could go. We arrived back in Boot Key Harbor the 1st of Nov. After two months aboard a 30 ft boat with both of us stopped smoking we had to have a bigger boat or a home on dry land. In Jan. of 1994 my Dad paid for a condo in Lemon Cove (11th purchase) in Marathon Florida. (12/91 to 1/94)
21. Moved into condo. Jayne went back to work at McDonalds, then later at Dolphin Research center. I was back to repairing TV’s at Cavaganah’s. We bought a 1973 Chevy Caprice. Mom had Quadruple by-pass in Nov. 1994. We had temporally moved back on the boat in Oct. planning on going to the Bahamas for the winter. We moved back to the condo till May of 1995. (1/94 to 4/95)
22. Moved back aboard the Comfort Zone May 1995 and departed Marathon for the Bahamas. My Dad turned up missing during a day automobile trip to visit family in Western Oklahoma over July 4th week-end. He was found dead from a heart attack. We flew home from the Bahamas for the funeral and to help Mom. We decided on the trip we should move back to Oklahoma to look after Mom. We brought the Comfort Zone back and across Florida and as far north as the panhandle of Florida where we lost a prop at a gas dock. We had the boat trucked from there backed to Cedar Mills Marina on Lake Texoma, the same marina where we had originally bought her. (5/95 to 7/95)
23. We bought and moved to a home on Lake Texoma (12th purchase) with two boat houses where we eventually tied the Comfort Zone. I went to work for Slaughter in Ardmore, Oklahoma as Tech Writer.
I did double duty as a writer and field engineer. As a field engineer I traveled to Indiana, South Carolina, Canada, Mexico, and California. The pay was good for Oklahoma but not as good as I could make in Dallas. Later I got an offer to be a course developer and instructor for Electrocom in Grand Prairie, Texas. (8/95 to 2/97)
24. We moved to an apartment close to the new job and put the house up for sale while continuing to see Mom once a month and spending our weekends on the lake. After the house sold we moved the boat back to Cedar mills Marina. We were now in the same place we had been six years before working in the Dallas area and spending weekends on the lake. Something was going to give. (2/97 to 10/98)
25. Boating fever finally took over and we moved bag and baggage plus two boats (we had acquired a 21 ft power boat in Texas) back to Marathon and the Condo. On the way to Florida at a service Station a man asked if we were going to the Keys to buy some of the cheap property after Hurricane George had come through. That got me to thinking. The woman we had bought our condo from came out and made a scene when we were mooring our sailboat to the sea wall. So, as I crawled off the boat Jayne was standing there and I told her to call our realtor and we started looking. The best thing that woman ever did was give me a hard time. Electrocom had asked me to continue working as a telecomuter so we had good income. (10/98 to 12/98)
26. After one aborted attempt in Big Pine we found a place at 737 24th St. in Marathon (13th purchase). It was very keys looking but gave me room for an office and we had 150 ft of heavy cement dock for our two boats. Life was good. I ended up living in this house longer than any other house in my life. Bought a new Lance Truck camper. Bought Mom a house in Marathon (14th purchase) in Aug. 1999 moved all her furniture down to Florida (another move for me). My telecomuting job lasted for two years. During this two years I did a couple of special on-site jobs for Electrocom, aiding them with installation instructions for new equipment. I then got my 50 tons masters license and my SCUBA instructors license again. In the Summer of 2001 I ran the Rosa, a ‘41 Morgan in the Sea Base Scouting program. In the fall after the Sea Base job I went to work for Lockheed Martin at the blimp base, 33 miles down from Marathon. That lasted till I tired of the drive and the boss. For one month I worked on boats, then Home Depot, and then I became a Radio producer at KMEG, a station I had rewired some years before. I stayed there until I found out that Sea Base was looking for more boats for their scouting program. I bought Olive IV, a 1972 Morgan 41 in Jan of 2003. I quickly changed her name to Comfort Zone II and started Comfort Zone Charters. I had her in the scout program from 2003 to 2005, summer, winter and Christmas, which paid for her and half of a new 71Hp Westerbeke engine. We sold the original Comfort Zone. In fall of 2003 Took truck camper to Maine and back. In May of 2004 took truck camper and Mom back to Oklahoma for Lahoma’s 90th birthday. Jayne and I went on out to Truth or Consequence, New Mexico. We picked Mom back up in Oklahoma and returned to Marathon. Mom died in her sleep two days after we got back. She would have been 88 in August of 2004. We had completely remodeled the house, adding two beautiful bath rooms and a new all wood cabinet kitchen. The Hurricanes started increasing in 2004 (They said this was the norm.) We decided rather than lose everything we had invested in, we would put our house on the market and move somewhere else. We traded our Lance truck camper in on a 33 ft Holiday Rambler 5th wheel in Oct of 2004. On Dec. 9th 2004 we departed Marathon in the 5th wheel for some full time RVing thinking maybe we would go to Alaska. After spending one of the coldest winters in recent memory in Texas we decided to start looking for a new place to live. Texas it turned out had high of property taxes so we decided to go back to Cloudcroft, New Mexico, a place we passed through some 39 years before and had briefly visited in 2004. The first day in Cloudcroft we found a beautiful Log home with a 40’ X 40’ work shop. (12/98 to 4/2005)
27. We bought and moved into our Log home in March of 2005 (15th purchase). Went back to Florida and moved out of 24th Street house in April as it was sold. During the summer I drove back to the Keys again and ran the Comfort Zone II in the scout program. Jayne stayed in new home while they added a new room to the west side, (the first time we had ever remodeled a home when we first moved in).
28. In December 2005 loaded a 1982 GMC Diesel Suburban to the roof with Dinghy on top and drove back to the Comfort Zone II in Ft Meyers, Florida. We got the Comfort Zone II ready and took her back to the keys where I built a new hard top In February of 2006 we departed the keys for Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Aruba,
